This one came needing a blown output stage repaired. The finish on this amp is unusual, it has a grey face plate rather than silver but otherwise looks like a typical mid to late 1970,s Kenwood amplifier. After replacing the output devices in the right channel the amp came to life. Also cleaned switches and potentiometers, volume tone, and balance controls as usual and brushed dust from the circuit board. The amp sounds surprisingly good, has great bass and delicate detailed mids and highs; the output is a quasi complimentary design and may help with the sound, no issues matching NPN/PNP output devices which could be a problem in the early days of solid state. Playing Keith Jarrett, his Anthology album, very nice sound stage, easy to listen to, non fatiguing, warm and involving sound, I'd forgotten how good these seemingly simple early Kenwoods are, I haven't even changed the electrolytic capacitors. The bottom of this amp can not be removed except for a very small access panel so I had to remove the circuit board with front panel attached and turn it upside down for good access (sorry forgot to take photos).
