Like all Rotel products this amplifier is well made, with by today's standard, a conventional electronic topology (circuit) but well executed. This amplifier is very similar to the earlier products but in an updated case, the meters being flavour of the day in the late 70's. This amp needed a new power switch and the panel lamps replaced. Made with high quality components this amp had hardly been touched. The 8 pin DIL (dual in line) integrated circuit only drives the power meters. The onboard phono amplifier does use two NEC? op-amps, one per channel, and is also of good quality. The amp like all Rotels sound very nice indeed. Warm (slightly mellow?), detailed and clean; the bass is quite well controlled and the highs are not at all scratchy or sibilant, some listeners may prefer slightly forward (treble) speakers but these do fit well with today's liking for plenty of bass. A very endearing and likable amp able to drive some difficult speakers; not a high power amp but but 25 "proper" watts, enough to drive most speakers quite well. It also has that cool, clean, retro look an all round nice amplifier.
