A classic Rotel, the original RA-820, simple, well built, very compact but really delivers the sound quality and drives all but the most difficult speakers; sounds much more powerful than its size suggests. There were some variations on this one with no tone controls (RA-820BX) and later models with cosmetic and internal updates, some significantly different layouts. All are very good but these early models were exceptional value for money and were Rotel's answer to the basic "black box" British amplifiers that were around in the early 1980's (originally designed to give high quality sound but basic functions to suit the lean economic times) these Rotels were very successful, although the later iterations got bigger, more powerful and more expensive but with improved specs (toroidal transformer). They sound clean, dynamic with well controlled bass, they benefit from the simple design; component quality is excellent but I'm sure if you upgrade with top quality capacitors this could really be a fantastic amplifier.
